The injection mold processing technology has become increasingly popular in the plastic products manufacturing industry. After decades of development, the whole process has become relatively mature. However, many injection mold manufacturers still frequently encounter problems during processing, resulting in defective finished products. So what are the common factors that cause color variation?
Injection Mold Processing
Causes of Color Variation in Injection Molded Products
① Raw material factors
Including replacement of color powder, change of plastic material grade, and replacement of setting agent.
② Different types of raw materials
As pointed out by Dongguan injection molding manufacturers, materials such as PP, ABS and PC may be required to produce the same color. Slight color difference will inevitably occur due to different material properties, which is acceptable within a certain tolerance range.
③ Equipment and process factors
Temperature, pressure and melt plasticizing time during injection molding will lead to color variation.
In addition, process factors such as mixing materials in different batches and production on different injection machines will also affect color consistency.
④ Environmental factors
Based on years of practical experience, Dongguan injection mold manufacturers conclude that color variation can be caused by uncleaned material barrels, dust in drying hoppers, oil contamination on molds, and other similar issues.
⑤ Color powder inherent properties
Some color powders are poor in temperature resistance, and the color of finished products is prone to shifting with temperature changes.
